Lighting the Night: Transforming Downtown with Luminous Artistry

Are you a light artist looking to showcase your work and bring joy to the community? LUSIO, in partnership with the Downtown Seattle Association and Pioneer Square Alliance, invites you to take part in an exciting opportunity to light up Downtown Seattle this winter season with your luminous creations!

We’re looking for local artists to help transform historic downtown neighborhoods into a stunning display of light art. Whether your expertise lies in window displays, outdoor exhibits, or large-scale projections, this is your chance to share your talent while engaging with the public in a free, citywide art experience.

TIMELINE

  • Call for Art is open now until Jan 10th, 2025 - or until exhibits have been chosen. Please apply as soon as possible as we will close the call as soon we fill the exhibit locations.

  • Selected Artists will be notified early Jan 2025

  • Artists may be contacted for more information or an interview prior to acceptance

  • Artist site visits will be scheduled early Jan

  • Installations begin approx. Feb 14th

  • Exhibitions run Feb thru April

  • *these dates are approx. and subject to change as we finalize the program details.

Details, requirements and eligibility

​

Storefront & Outdoor Exhibits
 

  • Eligibility: This is a call open to artists ages 18+ living within the PNW area. 

  • This call for art is open to any individual artists and artist groups. Groups must designate one person to be the lead and main point of contact. 

  • One installation per application. Multiple applications are ok.

  • Artist Stipends are available ranging from $750 - $5000

  • Outdoor exhibits must be either weather proof and/or created to withstand or comply with nature for at least 60 days, installed out of easy reach of the public ie; higher than 10 feet, attached securely and safely with both the general public and flora taken into account.

  • Outdoor & Storefront Exhibits will be installed by Artist(s) and their team.

  • All art, artist time and installation equipment is included in the artist stipend. If more production assistance is needed please include this in your application.

  • Artists are required to meet with the curator on site to discuss their exhibit and go over logistics of installation.
    *Out of town artists are exempt from this requirement and an exhibit site will be selected for them. 

  • Art Exhibits outside or in store fronts must be delivered, installed, maintained by the artist(s).

  • Eligibility: This is a call open to artists ages 18+. 

  • This call for art is open to any individual artists and artist groups. Groups must designate one person to be the lead and main point of contact. 

  • One installation per application. Multiple applications are ok 

  • Video content must be created in advance to host on media server (no live shows)

  • Final video exhibits must be between 10-30 mins, and will be run on a loop nightly.

  • Must have prior experience in creating video art- must provide links or examples of prior work on applications.  

  • Artist Stipends are available between $1000 and $5000

  • All art, artist time and artist travel is included in the artist stipend.

  • Open to vj’s, video artists, animators, or anyone working in video art. 

  • Art must be public and family friendly; no overtly political, religious, or otherwise aggravating content will be accepted. 

  • Looking for art that inspires well being and awe, but cannot include content such as strobes, fire, smoke, or other content that may create unease.
